Throughout the year Bunnings continued to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders on a number of community awareness initiatives.
This included supporting SafeWork New South Wales’ TradieSafe Program, which was launched in March 2017 in an effort to reduce injuries in the Hunter region’s residential construction industry.
From March to June 2017 eleven Bunnings stores hosted TradieSafe breakfasts and afternoon events promoting information to help local tradespeople improve work health and safety in their business.
As part of these events SafeWork New South Wales set up a TradieSafe display in the timber yard, as well as a customer service van which played a video highlighting best and worst practice examples of the four workplace safety risks that TradieSafe is focusing on; falls from heights from ladders and roofs; slips, trips and falls; cuts from sharp objects and personal protective equipment.
More than 250 tradespeople attended TradieSafe events in the Hunter region, with Bunnings to continue support for the TradieSafe Program in the next financial year.
